Over the past five years at Take A Bow, Cody has been a part of over 30 productions of children’s theater; some of his favorites include Frozen Jr/Kids, The Addams Family, 13 the Musical Jr, The Jungle Book Kids/Jr, Finding Nemo Kids/Jr, Legally Blonde, Mean Girls, and Winnie the Pooh. Cody also leads a playwriting workshop for young writers in middle school, allowing them to write an original short play to perform for audiences; over a dozen new works have been crafted by his young students!
Cody has also helped to start the College+ Program at Take a Bow Playhouse and has been lucky enough to have directed four shows in only two years. Having a safe space to educate and grow young actors has been greatly fulfilling, and Cody looks forward to having more opportunities to light up the Take a Bow stage! Previous Productions for the College+ Program include Alice By Heart (Music by Duncan Sheik, Lyrics by Steven Sater, Book by Jamie Nelson), Ordinary Days by Adam Gwon, Silent Sky and Exit Pursued by a Bear both by Lauren Gunderson.
Now residing on Long Island, Cody teaches, directs, and helps manage Take A Bow Playhouse., an educational theater company that has founded an academy of students. Students can enroll as early as Pre-K with classes and productions extending all the way into Adult Level. While the younger classes focus on learning the fundamentals of acting and performance, the college productions are a chance for older actors to gain a heightened collegiate experience. Each rehearsal process and production are designed in a way that utilizes a specific acting method. The course structure allows students to apply advanced acting techniques to their rehearsals, performance, and character development. Meisner, Uta Hagen, Stanislavski and more have been woven into rehearsal processes as a means to educate actors and expose them to training they might not have experienced firsthand. Take A Bow is committed to offering an exploratory space that gives young actors a chance to push their abilities and challenge themselves to evolve as performers.
