Cody is a Vietnamese artist hailing from the mountains of rural West Virginia. (Yeah, you read that right) From humble beginnings to the streets of New York City, Cody has carved a unique path for himself as an artist. The son of a Vietnamese mother yet birthed and raised in rural Appalachia, his distinctive up bringing has made a deep impact on his identity and art. A proud West Virginia native with a complex and rich respect for his Vietnamese roots, his goal is to be a voice for his people. For the family he never knew in his homeland of Vietnam, to the warm loving family that nurtured and loved him among the hills of America.

Since graduating from West Virginia University in 2014 with a BFA in Acting, Cody his hustled his way in the streets of New York City. His early days of slinging shrimp at Bubba Gump Shrimp Company in Times Square and auditioning during his lunch breaks offered him the chance to travel and perform. He even managed to have his face seen on TV a time or two. But what kept him in New York City was the sense of community and diversity. After spending over two decades feeling like an isolated minority, New York City embraced Cody with a new sense of community, appreciation, and love for the BIPOC artists that call the Big Apple their home. Now he spends his days writing, acting and pursuing the chance to embolden BIPOC voices and their unheard stories.
